Q: What type of Internet Connection do I need?
Pandora streams music at 128 kbps. You will need a broadband connection (DSL or Cable) of at least 150 kbps to run Pandora. (Dial-up is not supported.)
Q: What software do I need?
Pandora works entirely through your browser, so you do not need any separate software. You do, however, need Flash Player for your browser, which is often already installed. If not, you can get the latest Flash Player plug-in (currently Version 9) for your browser here:
PC Users: Pandora is supported on Internet Explorer and Firefox for Windows (2000, XP, or Vista).
Q: What hardware do I need?
For both PC and Macintosh computers, we recommend a machine with at least a 1Ghz processor and at least 256M of RAM.
A sound card (usually already installed) and either headphones or speakers for your computer are also required.
Q: What else do I need?
A valid, active email address is required.
Q: Why do you need to know my age?
Due to the Children\'s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we\'re required to verify that all Pandora users are at least 13 years of age.
Q: Why do you need to know my gender?
The free version of Pandora is completely supported by advertisements and we want to be able to show the right ads to the right listeners. For this reason we require registered listeners to supply a gender. This also means that you\'re more likely to see an ad that\'s relevant to you, so we hope it\'s a good thing both for our listeners and our advertisers.
Q: Why do you require a United States Zip Code when registering?
Our music license requires our listeners to be United States residents, which is why we require your US zip code during registration. Q: Why do you need my e-mail address?
Email addresses make ideal user names, as they are unique, and generally easy to remember.
We completely respect your privacy. We\'ll never send you unsolicited email and we\'ll never share your email address with another company without your explicit consent-- ever!
Q: Is my personal information secure on Pandora?
Yes. Your sign-in, registration and (for subscribers) subscription information is sent securely using SSL encryption (the same kind banking websites use).
Q: What kinds of advertising support the free version?
The free version of Pandora includes advertisements. Pandora strives to uphold community standards when selecting advertisements.
